All depends what you need it for. If little or no dirt road driving you can’t beat a Prius. It’s not only cheap to run but so reliable and low maintenance you can go over 150k miles on the original brake pads and the oil change interval is every 10k miles. They usually last about 250k miles.

…oh and although I don’t look at safety ratings because any modern roadworthy car is 10x safer than what I grew up with in the 70’s apparently the Prius is also the safest.
