Tesla’s trillion dollar valuation is fast approaching

Lots of companies got in trouble for going “woke.” It cuts both ways. The lesson for those aspiring MBA’s should be to concentrate on delivering value to the customer.

Elon has taken Tesla as far as he can anyway. He’s ready to move on. The board will most likely give him a golden parachute to resign and he’ll walk away with another big pay day.

Tesla has inspired many interesting resistance art forms now. Here’s a good one:

Tesla owners are trying to hide their car brands. Used to be a loved brand people flex with. Now it’s a toxic brand people want to hide.

Problem is he is synonymous with the brand. The Americans on the coast that are Tesla’s main customers feel he has forsaken them. Not good for business…

Just goes to show that there was never a valid long term business model.
Nor is there with EV’S in general.

No, EV sales have been growing in the US. That is despite the weakness of Tesla.

From my trusty Perplexity:

  1. Record-breaking sales: In Q4 2024, EV sales reached a new quarterly record of 365,824 units, marking a 15.2% year-over-year increase
  2. Rising market share: EV market share in the U.S. reached 8.7% in Q4 2024, with fully-electric vehicles (BEVs) accounting for 8.1% of all light vehicle sales in 2024
  3. Annual growth: EV sales in 2024 totaled 1.3 million units, a 7.3% increase from 2023

I think having one car in the household being an EV makes good sense. You just need enough range to commute to work or pick up kids. You can have another car being traditional gas car or hybrid to go longer distance. I can see the convenience of never touching a filthy gas pump.

No, just a filthy charger. And then your shirt, trousers and finally your face as you fidget endlessly waiting for your car to charge. That is unless you hardly drive it anywhere. Then I suppose you can charge at home. But at that point why own one.
With all the subsidies and losses by automakers if EV sales can’t even reach 9% of total sales the technology is going nowhere.

This is why why hate Tesla in the mountains.
Regenerative braking makes them unsafe in snow.

We’re a dual EV household at this point (both non-tesla) and love it. On the road every weekend, either to Tahoe for skiing or socal for other activities. ~400 mile days are routine. As much as I think Musk is a tool for his involvement in politics, the supercharger network is heads and shoulders above everything else and makes long distance travel a breeze.

What cars do you own?

Rivian has lost 90% of its stock value
Ford and GM are cutting production. Trump wants the tax credits ended. Will EVs still be around in 10 years? Or will hybrids and hydrogen dominate the market?

Here’s another woke stock in the toilet. Down 95%.
Go woke, go broke

Even grok is against Musk and Trump with all the replies

Looks like conservatives are still cool to EV’s. Too bad Elon is pissing off the libs real bad. I think it’s starting to become a social stigma in lib circles. That you need to explain why you are driving a Tesla. Sorta like smoking.

Really curious about Tesla’s upcoming Q1 report.

At least Tesla is more reliable than most EVs. Rivian,Volkswagen and the Lighting are horrible .
The whole industry is messed up by woke liberals making impossible design requirements. Cars are regulated to death. Every time government regulations strangle the industry we get shitty cars. Just like back in the late 70s and 80s . EPA and CAFE rules forced the manufacturers to build the worst American cars ever. The American car industry has never fully recovered.

RAV 4 hybrid and Crosstrek Sport. The Crosstrek kicks butt, handles fantastic, goes over 500 miles on a tank of gas and on long road trips gets better gas mileage than the RAV 4 hybrid despite what EPA says. The RAV only does better around town and doesn’t handle nearly as well. Suspension is too soft. My next car will be another Crosstrek Sport.

I recently listened to a podcast he did in 2021 on the history of technology in warfare in which he seemed like a completely different man. He displayed not only knowledge in engineering, but history, including strategy and tactics in the Second World War. This supports the theory that something in this man’s brain broke around 2022, whether it was from drug use, social-media addiction, a combination of both, or something else. It’s possible that all his business ventures begin to fail from now, which would indicate a more general decline in his cognition and ability to regulate his emotions. Much reporting has been done on Musk’s drug use, which has been serious enough to worry many around him.

Did not realize used Tesla is a lot cheaper than Honda Accord.

Musk seems to prefer spouting bullshit over the success of Tesla. I understand his hatred of bureaucracy but he made his fortune thanks to government subsidies and tax credits… Tesla is doomed unless Musk quits DOGE.
