The New "We Don't Care" Health Insurance Program

Remember, Trump’s comment “Media is skewed and not telling the truth to people”. It is true that many companies are getting subsidies, but there are legal ways to do it.

Example: Any one buying electric or plugin cars can get $7500 federal tax credit, any one installing solar plant can have 30% tax credit.

Apple, Google, walmart…etc went for solar power plant taking the government subsidies.

Not only individual gets $7500 tax credit, companies do get such subsidies. Remember, companies are entities that has tax id like human. The tax laws are common to everyone, be it individual, small company or corporation unless subsidy specifically states differently.

Every government subsidy is scrutinized by corporate lawyers and corporate CPAs before they take advantage of it.

Sorry but opinions aren’t news. The article is lacking substance and data.

Again, how are we defining government subsidy? Boeing builds stuff and provides services to the government. Should the government not pay for them because it’s the government? Now we’re mixing in state/local stuff and federal. Notice they count GM loans as subsidies and ignore repayment of the loans? That’s more than just a little dishonest. Everyone calls TARP a bailout. Only the loans were repaid and the government made a profit on it. This is just more dishonest journalism designed to create an emotional response. I guess it works.

The poor get a ton of subsidies. There are food stamps, section 8, medicaid, and the list goes on. Those are all subsidies given with no requirement of repayment.

Thanks God Trump promised to end the tax laws that allowed him to…well, not pay taxes at all. That was one of his promises, and same as AHCA he will deliver…:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::stuck_out_tongue::smile:

I am tired of witnessing so much winning, or whining…:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Well, I wouldn’t dare to debate with this lady, I would be an idiot.

“We’ve trusted a lot of our health care to for-profit businesses and it’s their job, frankly, to make profit,” Rosenthal says. “You can’t expect them to act like Mother Teresas.”

Rosenthal’s new book, An American Sickness, examines the deeply rooted problems of the existing health-care system and also offers suggestions for a way forward. She notes that under the current system, it’s far more lucrative to provide a lifetime of treatments than a cure.

@buyinghouse Once again master of the ignore and pivot. I’m sure you’ll also ignore that the US consumes over 80% of the prescription drugs in the world. Our drug consumption per capita is sky high. So regardless of pricing, we’d spend far more on drugs than other countries. That doesn’t fit the emotional narrative of evil companies though.

Do we spend 80% of the total prescription drugs in terms of dollar amount? If so, it’s simply that drug companies charge a huge premium price in US vs the rest of the world.

If we do consume more prescription drugs per person based on volume of drugs, does it mean that Americans are in a poor health? That would be more worrisome. It’s much more serious a problem to have a unhealthy population than overpaying the drug companies.

Are Americans using more recreational drugs per person? More violence per person? More injury from violence per person? Or more obesity per person?

Which is a more significant reason for our healthcare spending, McDonald’s/CocaCola or gang violence?

We consume 80% of the pills based on volume. It’s related to our high rates of chronic illness which I’ve posted about before. Our obesity rate is much higher.

Are you dumb, or you pretend to be one?

Read the CDC info. The majority of chronic illness cases are preventable through healthier living choices. The people shouldn’t even have the illness or need meds. I’m actually focused on the root cause not the incorrect talking point that creates the emotional response that corporations are evil.

Then, we need to start educating people via what?
I would think that we need to put an effort on getting rid of things that are bad for our health by eliminating them through the help of congress. We need to get rid, legally, of Coca Cola, Pepsi, McDonalds and all those things that make us fat or unhealthy. We need to start somewhere. Perhaps, no, no perhaps, it is a necessity, eliminating cigarettes. Any person smoking is an idiot. And I can tell anybody that in their face. No problem.

Yes, it is that easy.

Anyway. Another failure from the “we don’t know who is saying what here” administration. No AHCA, no wall paid for by Mexico, no nothing! Only foreign agents working for the administration popping everywhere.

The government spent years misinforming the public on the dangers of fats instead of sugar based on a study funded by sugar lobbyists. I wouldn’t count on the government to impartially educate people. We do allow tons of chemicals that are banned in Europe. That’d be a start.

Apple, cow milk and banana are also bad for health.

Are you serious? I favor them since they are natural produce.

The government is silly to allow unsafe chemical products, such as leaded paint etc in the first place. Were scientists and doctors really that dumb decades ago to not know the dangers of lead? Government allowed poisons in people’s home and then adopt expensive regulations.

I think government should be super strict on manufacturers and be really cautions on risky products

Obummercare was doomed from the start, especially since it depends on the insurance companies…Looks like California will trot out its own health plan…

California will go bankrupt. Medical already covers 1/3 of the state and 57% of children under 5. Poor people are reproducing at such a high rate that they’ll bankrupt the state. The federal govnement is picking up the tab on new enrollee for 3 years. Then it’s a time bomb set to blow up the state’s budget. Add that with state pension costs that doubles every 10 years, and there’s no way the state will afford the policies.

The even better part is Medical pays $18-24 for a doctors visit. Doctors lose money on every medical patient. Doctors in counties with the highest percent of medical patients are closing up. So you get healthcare but doctors can’t afford to do business in your county.

The near term consequence is pretty clear. GOP will lose House in 2018, and potentially the Senate. Let’s see if the old fox McConnell can avoid disaster in the upper chamber. It’s possible all 7 of the current CA GOP Reps will lose their seats. This thing is a game changer.

Obamacare is always a compromise. It was a plan from the right, a hybrid of market and government. The left’s heart has always been single payer. The funny thing is that by repealing Obamacare the GOP is setting the stage for single payer. Recent poll has support for single payer at 58%. As people learn more about the bill, especially after the CBO score comes out, expect the support to go higher.
