Obama was not given freehand and forced to raise income for medical insurance. He has added tax to wealthy people to fund medical insurance for others ! This has irked many esp top income earners.
What Trump has changed?
Trumpcare = Obamacare - minus following
Cut the extra taxes on wealthy 250k income payers
Remove mandatory enforcement of insurance from individual.
Essentially, he removed the income sources of medical insurance.
Now, we will all know whether Obamacare or Trumpcare is doomed to increase cost !
Itâs all window dressing anyway. None of it will change why the US spends such a high percent of GDP on healthcare. The root of it is Americans are horribly unhealthy. Itâs a sad state when doctors are shocked when new patients donât have a long list of prescription drugs they are taking.
I get Canadian TV channels. They have the best coverage of hockey. There are zero drug commercials.
California single-payer healthcare bill passes first committee test. It will cover all California residents, including illegal immigrants. Who will pay for it? Is california state tax going to go up again?
People just donât realize the math. Countries with these benefits tax have an effective income tax rate of 40-50% plus VAT. Americaâs average effective tax rate is 13%. Even if you add FICA, weâre around 20%. Weâd have to increase that by at least 2x to fund these socialist programs.
Ask the 42% of Americans not paying income taxes if theyâd pay 50% to get âfreeâ healthcare. They support it because they think someone else will pay the bill.
How about your credibility complaining about democrats, liberals, blah, blah, blah? I know, you are not biased, thatâs what you said, but come on! Letâs go and denounce this will ya?
In 1973, Nixon did a personal favor for his friend and campaign financier, Edgar Kaiser, then president and chairman of Kaiser-Permanente. Nixon signed into law, the Health Maintenance Organization Act of 1973, in which medical insurance agencies, hospitals, clinics and even doctors, could begin functioning as for-profit business entities instead of the service organizations they were intended to be. And which insurance company got the first taste of federal subsidies to implement HMOA73 ⌠gasp ⌠why, it was Kaiser-Permanente! What are the odds? Itâs all right here to read for yourself.
Health insurer profits are around 5%. If they were non-profit, premiums would drop by 5%. Premiums are increasing by more than 5% a year, so you wouldnât even offset one year of increases. Congrats on falling for headlines designed to cause an emotional reaction, because you have on idea what the actual issues are.
Itâs not secret he was a horrible president. Whatâs your point? My point of your hypocrisy is that you get so angry when republicans do anything. Itâs hilarious to see you pivot when itâs pointed out the democrats did the same thing youâre bitching about. You still donât understand that Iâm anti both parties and anti big government. Both parties are the enemy. You think the democrats care about you despite all the evidence to the contrary. Youâre the exact type of voter the DNC said was the key to Hillary winning. Youâre the person they can easily manipulate with headlines that make you react emotionally.
Yeah, Iâve read you so many times berating republicans, of course, soooooooooooo many times for you to be non biased, of coooooooooooourrrsssssssseeeeeeeee!
And, how many on this forum follow Warren Buffet? Plenty I can guess. And he is right! He must be another democrat, right?
Warren Buffett thinks that the US healthcare system is broken.
The legendary investor said costs for healthcare have exploded in the US and are holding back business growth.
âMedical costs are the tapeworm of American economic competitiveness,â Buffett said.
Buffett said that the lower rate of healthcare spending in other countries is one of the biggest disadvantages for US businesses.
Anyone can see healthcare spending has exploded. Has the growth of it slowed down since Obamacare? Did Obamacare save the average family $2,400/yr like he promised? How about we place the blame where it lies with the American people being so unhealthy?
@buyinghouse What on earth does a HMO being able to have a profit have to do with Americans becoming more obese? Your article is so stupid it ignores the fact that medicare and medicaid reject a higher percent of claims than private insurers. Wow, I guess that destroys your entire narrative that health insurers are bad and government healthcare would save all of us. Let me guess. Youâll respond by posting a link to something irrelevant.
If you want to blame someone for the rise in obesity, then blame the MIT study funded by sugar lobbyists. It said saturated fats are the dietary evil and sugars are fine. It completely changed dietary recommendations, and the obesity rate has been increasing ever since. Now we know that data was garbage and gave people horrible advice.
Some data and facts on the topic (not someoneâs hysterical opinion):
So I was right. You pivot to something unrelated to your original point of blaming Nixon. I guess you want government healthcare, so you have a higher percent chance of your claim being denied.
Again mister Marcus, are you hard of hearing? We wouldnât be here if it wasnât for a retuglican voting away healthcare for all. Or at least, not for profit healthcare.
The core of this topic is the crappy AHCA. It was one of the reasons for what some dumbsters voted for Twhitler.
I will repeal and replace Obamacare ASAP. It will be cheap for everybody. Everybody? LOL
Then the wall paid for by Mexico. Not even included in this budget. LOLâŚLOLâŚextra LOL!
Hillary in jailâŚ
Playing golf, no way! I will be so busy in the white house. Can you believe Obama golfed so much but I wonât?
I will fight wall street. Goldman Sachs is getting away with murder folks! Thatâs why I will hire them, they know how to kill peopleâŚ
So, Marcus, what part of AHCA you love the most? The $680K tax reduction for Warren Buffet against older people paying 100+ times for their coverage?
The 40 million Americans out of healthcare if they vote this law in?
I just want you saying âdarn republicans!â once in your life.
Can you do that? I know you can, you are not biased, right?
Who voted away healthcare for all? Weâve never had healthcare for all in the US, so itâs difficult to tell what youâre rambling about. Are you pivoting back to Nixon? So youâre going to cling to your story despite data that health insurers add 4% to the cost? Youâre going to cling to the belief that government healthcare is superior even though it declines a higher percent of claims than private insurers? Youâre going to cling to insurers are bad despite the increase in obesity coinciding with the increase in healthcare spending? Thatâs a special level of ignorance.
You realize I was against most of the house republican proposal for income tax reform. A border adjustment tax is stupid. Tariffs are stupid and should be a last resort. All they do is make items more expensive. Brazil has sky high tariffs and a mediocre standard of living.
