Well I have little hope of Europe in the tech race due to their socialist and welfare mindset. Even in the auto industry they are now far behind and China and probably US will dominate this industry in this century. The overall tech race will play out between US and China and everyone else will align with one or the other. China can win only if it embraces immigration and get more allies on its side, the way US has. It will probably get equal volume of allies on its side due to heavy investment in emerging economies and due to embarrassing governance and politics in US, which means game over for the US because one on one even two US won’t stand a chance against China.
What this means for RE in the long run is anyone’s guess.
India neither has any global aspirations, nor it suffers from any notion of atrocities or injustices from past that it need to make even. Europe is hardly acting as a one unit. UK, France, and Austria etc seems to be diverging on some key issue, particularly immigration.
Huh? Check out previous @BA_lurker comments. India used to be the most wealthy nation for many centuries, overtook by China for 1-2 centuries and then down down down because of British Invasion. India definitely harbors the thought of returning to past glories. Not sure whether you being to the ASEAN nations, their culture are heavily influenced by India and China. Now, don’t use Indian products much including watching Indian movies (I recall watching them when I was young, not so popular now).
I think what I am trying to say is how a person can react to a bad act. Lets say person A treats person B badly. Person B has three options. Ignore A and hope A will mend its way. Talk to A and workout the differences. Or react violently to A’s actions. At this time, India seems taking the path of reconciliation and cooperation (the second option). Even if injustices happened in past, it cannot be undone, and there is not point in dwelling on it for ever. Just like JAPAN and US reconciled after WW2. Can Indians and Japanese be seen as bunch of cowards who are good at taking orders and do not know how to fight a tyrant? Possibly so.
They have no choice. When you are weak and not dumb you must cooperate. Even being dumb is not enough to fight back - look at Iran. To survive in the world of strong bullies you must have guts and be strong period, which India is not.
Lack of courage, risk avoidance, shortcuts, etc. are now ingrained in the Indian culture perhaps due to some kind of inferiority complex to whites. Check how big of a business are fairness creams in India. Couple that with caste system, religious factions, very poor treatment of women, and the fact that most smart Indians leave the country - you get a 3rd world country with subservient future.
Wars and fights are to be picked up carefully. You do not start a war just for the sake of fighting unless you don’t care if you loose. If winning is the goal, you must fight when there is a purpose and chances of victory is highest. Indian infatuation with white skin, caste system, and very poor treatment of women, a 3rd world country. Did you leave out any adjective or description? The problem is that most Indians will not get into fight over these description. If you think your line describes India well. Be happy with insights.
Funny you mentioned Iran. Iran actually communicates (diplomatically) through India . Despite the not so friendly relations it has with rest of the western world and countries in western sphere of influence, Iran gets along with India pretty well. Because India has generally good relations with every country and Iran benefits from India’s network.
Indian movies are not just bollywood as marketed. There are several regional language movies which is of international standard. Check super deluxe in netflix when you can and lemme know your review.
Check the number of battery plants that are being built in Europe and compared to US?. I mean real battery plants from ground up technology. not like Panasonic/Tesla type.
Millions of Chinese/Russian/Turks/Middleastern can speak and write in French/German. Europe is not just Geography but big idea about education, openess,Regulation, banking and world reserve currency that is convertible and stable with real low interest rates.
I have yet to meet any high technical engineer from India or for that matter any one grown up in SF bayarea that can write in French and German. I will write it implication later. but make no mistake with current trends the only choice of Take out food in SF bayarea will be either Chicken Curry or McDonald.
Process of disintegration of Europe has started. UK is already out and France is already charting a different path. The way it is progressing, the only major country to remain rooting for EU will be Germany.
Auto industry is not very big margin industry. India, which is not particularly known for its auto industry, is the fourth-largest automaker in the world. Actually, when a country is big like India in terms of population, it is large enough market for its companies to achieve economies of scale without worrying about exporting to other countries.
UK was never part of Eurozone as it didnot join Euro common currency.
UK is more service based economy. selling intellectual property like ARM holdings.
Most vehicles sold in India are lower priced. thats why Tesla cannot sell there in numbers to create economies of scale.
Almost 30% of Top MBA programmes in Europe are in France. They are ramping education system.
One way to look at international economy is through PPP (purchasing power parity). That is why international pricing does not matter much in terms of consumption. That is why sales of Tesla in not an index of success of an economic system. Just as the number of sales of sandwhich will not be a true indicator of food industry in India where Sandwhich is not what people eat on daily basis. In other words, how will you measure something that cannot be measured by the scale you have or the units you use? You simply cannot.
Many yeas ago i read in a Magazine the GE was the top executive producer of the United States, more than all business schools combined. MBAs are not produced in the schools but in the field and the corporations. I do not know what French teach there MBAs anyway! how to wade through myriad government regulation?
French rise in business school ranking is reflection of global corporates studying French model of business. French CEO will be running Chryrsler-Fiat. after merger with French Auto.
French lady is running ECB. So plenty of funding for French and EU startups.
The point about Tesla is India neither has the supply chain nor income level to justify Tesla factory.
Even if 1 billion from India migrate to English speaking world of Canada/Australia/South Africa/US/New Zeland
China/Japan/Korea and rest of East Asia will be in favor of it as they will be able to sell much more products and services to these countries due to relative high purchasing power.
you can read it here. but understand basic thing. France area is much larger than California (if you count the size of beaches than gap become bigger) with much better weather and less droughts with relatively stable geography. it wont be hard for them to attract bright people and wealthy. I dont think Tax rates and cost of living will be much different.
If you think about it, Tesla is really a vanity product. You spend too much money on nice car (which I agree - Tesla is a nice car, but at what price?) . Tesla is not something that cannot be easily substituted and I think Indian manufacturers are on it already. Indians will buy electric cars, but it will probably not be a Tesla. How does it matter anyway if it is not Tesla?
These are export dependent economies and that is why their foreign policy is not so autonomous like that of India.
Besides natural endowment, it is the people and the principle of governance that matters. Why California seems to be loosing to Texas in recent years?
It does not matter if Tesla is even remotely usefull. It was Chinese demonstrating to the rest of the world that they can organize and sell Chinese built Tesla in Europe at shortest possible time. It is demonstration of competence.
These countries have organized 15 countries trade system. and they make high quality parts that without them even a Treadmill cannot work. The wealth they creating is already spend in new directions.
California still has high quality education and health care system relative to Texas.
Texas ranking in education not so bright. The advantage of Texas is that it has oil/gas income so it can subsidized income taxes. once current oil/gas industry is flushed down due to low prices and higher living cost. (make no mistake cost of living in Texas will rise once all the people immigrate there) than the real taxes will start.
French has the advantage of healthcare, education, environment with world class infrastructure.
