Stockpile and hoarding. Businesses are expecting supply chain issues to last for quite awhile. They would release products gradually at high price.
I see this same kind of silliness in comments on other sites I’ve visited. Only related to real estate.
Those touting that it can only continue going up. And those saying it’s due to bust at any moment.
What they two camps have in common is ignorance. They both see real estate values as moving rapidly like the DOW or SP500.
When I question those that say real estate is grossly overinflated and will collapse at any moment to provide a historical example other than natural disaster or war, they are quick to point out the Great Recession. That once in a century occurrence which was actually a world wide financial shock more than a real estate driven event; which on average, wasn’t really significant enough to be called a crash; and which recovered rather quickly as things worked through the system.
On Quora, when some idiot posts: “When will home prices crash?”. I just respond; “When the human population crashes”. Most of them don’t get it.
The human population actually will crash by almost every estimate out there. But not until after 2050.
I will be dead then. Are they all joining me? I hope it doesn’t get crowded in hell.

Well, it looked touch and go there for a while during the first surges of Covid.
I’ve always said that, something will get us in time. Because no species can expand and dominate like ours has ad infinitum. It’s just not natural. There is always something evolving to derail such population expansion. Even the lemmings have their day.
And I suppose that it will most likely be something we haven’t thought of. i.e. not an asteroid or nuclear war.
With EM’s space strategy and neutralink, this is the most likely.
I personally think that nuclear war won’t be as devastating as predicted. The Russians are incompetent, so most of their arsenal are duds. After a WW3 we will have another dark age like after the Roman Empire ended. Cycle of life.
My nuclear war is in the future, way more devastating.
