Uh Oh....The Layoffs Begin

Not everything is left vs right. Also, treating people with basic dignity is not the same as honoring them.

hahaha you can’t even get his name right. See the impression he’s made on you?

its not the left tracking his personal life, its anonymous Better.com employees posting the sordid details of Vishal’s life on public forums.

The spelling of name is immaterial. He has definitely made a good impression on me. The way he is driving left crazy only accentuates that impression.

Fire these slackers!

Personally, never heard of the guy before. Wasn’t following this company. I think people are wrong to complain about the layoff. I don’t care if it’s because he’s incompetent or if he’s an asshole or if it simply made good business sense. If an employee thinks it’s because he’s an incompetent leader, then good grief, leave! Why would you want to stay? If it’s because he’s an asshole, then ā€œgood riddance, this company was toxic.ā€ Clearly the guy who took the video was upset because he liked his job and wanted to keep it.

I’ve never been laid off, but I don’t (yet) see why having the CEO do it this was was bad.

The anonymous stuff on Blind doesn’t bother me. So he posted reasons that seem pretty strong to me. He admitted to posting them later (ok good, don’t lie about it). Should he have posted them under his own name? Not sure really.

Name calling is rude, but I feel like between Elon Musk and Trump, it’s become an American thing. Do I want this to be the way business is? Not really, but it is what it is.

There are far worse things, IMO going on, than someone actually responding to people. My son just got flagged on Etsy by a company over a purported brand violation (I’ll likely post details later) and most likely won’t get any response at all to the email he sent the company asking for clarification. What’s worse? The company responding rudely or completely stonewalling him which blocks any resolution with Etsy? The latter. At least the laid off workers now know that they were actually ā€œfiredā€ for bad performance.

I can absolutely understand someone inside the company wanting to leave if they think the ship is sinking or if there was already a toxic atmosphere. Leave then. Companies don’t turn toxic overnight.

PS: Sounds like his wife should divorce him

i think she is married to him out of self-interest as well - (she is CEO of the company he allegedly ā€œstoleā€ from his co-founder, co-founder is currently suing him, etc). Also, she is Indian- American (2nd gen, raised here), and TBD, we dont divorce unless it is really bad, and this doesn’t qualify.

Are we discussing married life of Vishal?
Or discussing whether anything was immoral, illegal, or unethical in firing 900 people?

 nothing wrong with firing 900 people over. CEO is just a shady hot mess. Meaning he should be fired for that, not for firing 900 people. But this brought attention to what a shady hot mess of a human he is.

The kind of thoughts you have expressed is reason why the CA is a hot mess. You cannot even focus on the real issue and passing judgement on irrelevant and peripheral matters. Vishal was hired as a CEO to run the company as a CEO. Should he be fired or not is dictated by ability to do just that (be a CEO).

I really don’t get why some of you are defending him, it’s not a PC or cancel culture thing, 900 people weren’t all under performing and the way he went about it was just wrong.

Can’t person can be fired for any reason, even if the fired person was the top performer? Isn’t this what at will employment means?

yes but the way it was done and the verbiage he said around it wasn’t.

you are beating about the bush. Company found those employees no longer needed, and fired them. It is just as simple.

Blindly supporting millionaires- I think it has to do with the below quote by someone

ā€œ the poor in America see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionairesā€

I’m good with this

Anything wrong with supporting right actions of Billionaires (I do not think Vishal is a Billionaire) ?

Nothing wrong in supporting right actions by billionaire but immediately jumping to conclusion without hearing other side is. Also how do you decide it’s right action? BTW his NW 4B

People are often laid off due to office politics. The ones left maybe just ones that were better at ass kissing, brown nosing and telling lies about their fellow employees.
