Wake me up when google generates meaningful revenue from something other than ads.
Google wallet is a perfect example. What has google done with it? Meanwhile look at PayPal, Venmo, square cash, and Apple Pay. You guys need some actual business peoole that get what it means to build a business with the tech that’s created.

Can you guys find some more interesting product names other than “Google XYZ”? Like you don’t even have a name for that voice assistant. It’s literally just called google assistant. Meanwhile Siri and Alexa are cracking jokes with users.

assistant is getting pretty good at that too people love it, i hope they keep improving it. it can sing lullaby, help people put their kids to bed, tell jokes, etc. way beyond my expectation for non-ads google product.

Gmail has ads and I actually pay google for additional drive storage.
How about gmail app on your phone? Are gmail ads similar to ads you see around, or are they significantly “undermonetized”.
Ads on apps are in a dedicated promotions tab. that was my point.

I don’t like our velocity either, but some of undermonetization is by design. better things at play.
You have not used google product, esp google assistant, they are excellent at my home. We have all the three products at home. Costco dispatched the latest Assistant ($249.99) that I am getting tomorrow.
Google challenges Microsoft IE, almost routed it.
For every product Amazon launched with alexa, google has equivalent.
Google has smart phone challenging other phones (low market share).
Google has Waymo, challenging autonomous vehicle.
FB ads are not comparable with Google and methodology. The ads are displayed by search engine algos.
They are in product sales like google check out
Google has excellent flight search (and revenue generating).
Nest thermostat and nest cameras are wide spread
FB is no match to google.
Google is formidable challenger to many companies, they have higher quality and steady raise.
I am telling this to counter, but really they have good products, and I am long on GOOGL stock.
Apple, Google and Amazon will survive (stronger) better during downturn than FB.

This is almost a nonissue (though, google pixels are the best androids out there). We have the software, that’s what matters mostly.

My favorite google product is chromecast, hands down (hardware wise). then pixel phone.
I have Chromecast too and my son has Pixel 2 too. Google has lot of office products, email subscription, cloud storage subscription etc that I use.

I get to try new pixel phones every year due to my corp phone… gets better every year…
