It looks like the big tech or other high profile tech companies are now paying the same salary in Seattle as in SF. With no state income tax and cheaper housing cost, I’m now really considering the move. Weather is a problem…

Both Bezos and Gates turned into womanizers in Seattle. May have something to do with that dreary weather.

The drought has made the weather not as bad. The last 2 years have been pretty dry.
In Seattle I hear they don’t water their lawns. So that even a wet year the lawns turn brown ever summer. Portland also.
I only have a small portion of grass. I never water it, and it never turns brown. I do have to mow it every 4-5 days though. It grows FAST.
I flew over Seattle in a seaplane 20 years ago in August. I was astounded by all the brown lawns. I was told that people there don’t have irrigation.
People definitely don’t have irrigation.
Speaking of water:
Still hoping for a normal monsoon here in AZ. Trend looks promising. Should begin in about 4 weeks. No water restrictions proposed, at least none that I’ve heard of and that’s with thousands of Californians moving in.
Southern California seems to have less water restrictions than SF bay area. that maybe due to previous allocations. but it is just matter of time. Water will become more and more expensive as more and more people flee to spread out communities.
Better exit now to states near Canadian border.
Beverly hills with West Hollywood. population of 43,000.
3% inbuilt inflation + any pass through expense of purchase water which most cities purchase.
but that is only upto 2022. After 2022. The real inflation will be taken into account.
SF status achieved.
“ The store sits in the city’s smallest police beat, a roughly four-block-by-six-block area downtown known as “Mary Three,” or M3, in police lexicon.”
“In the past month this small zone saw 16 assaults, 12 burglaries, 10 robberies, 23 drug busts, 14 weapons violations and 12 property destructions, to name some of the 141 total crimes reported.”
It also puts it in perspective when Starbucks is closing Seattle locations for safety. It really is that bad. It’s making the suburbs even more desirable. 141 crimes report in a month and the area is small.
.
Time to pack up and head for Austin.
Honestly, Austin will go the same direction. It’s probably 10 years behind. I’m am shocked that Seattle now wants to hire more police. That’s after wanting to defund them and tons of officers quitting. Maybe there’s hope yet for liberal cities, and they’ll reverse the policies.
Go to northern suburbs ![]()
