Will Seattle really become the next San Francisco?

Is this surprising? Now most departments use computer software to determine where patrols should be. They base it on 911 call volumes. There’s a reason so many police are in certain areas.

You literally CANNOT make this stuff up. Liberals here voted down a condo development, since it would be an environmental risk to the creek. Now the next vote is to close the fire station (which is also on the creek) and convert it into a hazardous waste collection facility. That is some how less environment risk than some condos?

Weren’t you warned. Seattle is shithole with bad weather. Can’t even get decent skiing with Whistler closed. The only fun thing to do there is boating. I have waterskied on Lake Washington. Need an enclosed trawler for boating in the Sound. When I go to Puerto Vallarta or Hawaii everyone I meet seems to be escaping Seattle or Canada.

Real estate has truly gone bonkers everywhere.

I am on the final leg of my 2500 mile round trip from CA->Portland->Seattle->Olympic national park->CA. Staying in an Airbnb in Centralia (Wa town near I-5). The house I am in was bought for 90k in 2019 and rehabbed lightly (nice paint and trim, new doors, windows) and is now pending at 2x the 2019 sold price.

For your car trip, what do you do for the return leg? Same route or different? I was thinking about doing a trip like that but I want to wait for Canada to reopen its border so I can drive to Vancouver.

Almost same route. I drove all around Olympic national park - there are very few roads inside the park and it’s a million acres or about a 250 miles perimeter drive. Started from near Tacoma, drove up the east side of the park on day one, stayed in Port Angeles one night and today I completed driving down the west side of the park.
You can see Victoria, Canada from the top of Hurricane Ridge! Awesome views.
If you like seafood, you can find oysters on the river beaches all along the east and then Dungeness crabs in Dungeness of course.

How many days? Last couple of times we did Oregon coast up to WA Border 1500 miles in 5 days. Felt we needed more time.

Totally 8 days. I should be back in the bay tomorrow night.

I couldn’t do much in Portland this time other than take my kids Multnomah and the Columbia river gorge on the drive up.
I spent a day in Seattle and then one day in Rainier which was great. Hardly any tourists and they’d just cleared the roads of snow.

If I had more time i would have spent one more day in Portland and another day in Mt. St. Helens (my kids were too young the last time to remember things)

This was the beginning of the down fall of SF
When San Francisco starting becoming San Franfeces. The whole hippie movement was based on a lie. Warm San Francisco nights don’t exist.

Counter culture and a vibrant artist scene is good for SF. There’s a reason young professionals settle in SF instead of the South Bay. Precisely because SF is more fun.

Same for other tech hubs like Seattle and even Austin.

I get the fun part. I was 14. But the hippie lie turned ugly and 100,000 people moved out. Crime, urban blight, drugs, mental illness and homelessness was directly caused by the hippies and the permissive attitude of city
officials. The city didn’t recover population till the 80s. And still has the stain of lawlessness, permissiveness, drug use, mental illness, homeless and entitlement created by the free love sex and drugs and rocknroll. Sorry but the SF Herb Caen adored from 1935 to 1967 was a much more charming nice place to live.

.

= drug, prostitution, promiscuity, homelessness, robberies, thefts, break-ins,

One has to wonder why some1 with daughters would want to stay in SF.

All the crimes you have listed, man-to-woman crimes can be easily done man to man.

The hippie movement was an illusion. The disenchantment and hangover lasted almost 20 years. In fact SF is still suffering from its tolerance of the intolerable conditions on the street today.

Austin is famous for being weird and Seattle for its punk rock. San Francisco’s music scene is actually not as good as those two cities.

I don’t get why people are so against artists. Creativity sometimes can be messy. This country is huge. I am sure there ain’t no “hippies” in some shit hole hillbilly country side. Move there and be happy. But then you won’t have highflying tech jobs there either. Turns out you can’t have one type of creativity while banning another.

Your definition of creativity sounds very strange. My math teacher in high school showed us a creative wave to prove 2+2=5.

The problem is that these messed up creative people sell absurdity as reality. And there are a large number of creative minds (victims of motivated reasoning) who take absurd ideas as gospel of truth. Climate Science is one of such creative theories.

You equate hippies with artists. I never mentioned artists. The only art hippies were known for was the art of milking the system for free shit.

Not to mention plenty of hippies live in the sticks. Where else would they live these days; they’ve been priced out of the cities. I spotted a purple haired beaut walking down Fossil Creek road just yesterday. Big 'ole knockers, barely concealed, to go with the hair. Sorry, no pics.
Mendocino county is probably one of the largest remaining hippie hangouts in CA.

.

This is easy. I can make it equal to whatever number you want.
