Will Seattle really become the next San Francisco?

This is the local liberal spin. I wonder if these people realize how much they contradict themselves from one paragraph to the next. There’s literally a paragraph saying:

“ The program conflates homelessness with drug use, mental illness and crime , and attempts to paint a few individuals as representative of our entire homeless population.”

The next one says:

“ We already know we have a woeful lack of mental health services here. Drug addiction, which can be a cause or result of homelessness, is a nationwide epidemic,”

Also, the accuse the video of not having data on the homeless committing more crime then say the homeless are 1/5 arrests. They claim that’s due to police targeting and not differences in people committing crimes.

Johnson ignores the root causes of homelessness, both systemic and situational : the high cost of housing and wages that don’t keep pace; lack of health, mental health and addiction services; our regressive tax system; generations of racial discrimination; and long-term cuts in public housing, to name a few.”

So confusing since they are mad at the video for saying it’s a drug and mental health issue. Then they again state the lack of addiction and mental health treatment is an issue.

The metros with the greatest economies are all liberal towns. Even Austin is the most liberal part of Texas.

It’s metros with the biggest rich/poor gap. The exact thing that liberals promise their policies will prevent from happening is exactly what happens.

The bigger the gap the better. Where there are no gap is when you know socialism has taken over.

I have mentioned it many times. The wealth gap comes about because people at the top are making a ton more proportionally. Even though a plumber in SF is making 50% more than say Oklahoma. But kids barely out of school are routinely making 200K in SF working for a tech shop, or 3 to 4x more.

Everybody is making more here but at the top opportunities are vastly superior to elsewhere. We are not paying people at the bottom badly. We are just paying people at the top extremely well.

Blame ex-SWE nouveau riche angel investors and steal & sell other privacy companies like FB and GOOG who pay immoral SWEs insane salary to implement those “do no evil” software.

SWE’s got paid obscene amount because they create even more in terms of economic value for their employers. Instagram had something like 12 people when it was sold to Facebook for 1B.

So as AI got more widespread SWE’s pay will likely go even higher as more of the world’s labor got replaced by code written by SWE’s. How much wealth gap will a democracy tolerate before revolution starts?

Those at the top will have robot armies to knock down the masses should they try to rebel.

See what I mean? FB pays obscene price thereby creating nouveau riche. Ditto for WhatsApp. The reason why is possible because privacy was obtained for zero cost and sold at high price. USG should fine FB $100B one-time and $10B per year till all those issues are resolved.

Don’t be jealous. Go buy some more FB shares.

Now even more jealous because you reminded me that I didn’t enjoy the easy money when FB was trading at $20-$40. Please don’t mention AAPL because post-SJ, annualized return is meager 11% from SJ era of 40+%.

You may be earning less than a 20-year-old Silicon Valley intern

Don’t underestimate the implication of this phenomenon. The other side outnumbers the tech talents thousand times. Even if there is no revolution, hostile behavior towards tech talents could reach a point where we would start ostracized them. I feel CS major should include a course on social etiquette and humility.

Frankly, FB has created many social problems.

The backlash has already started. Warren wants to break up the tech barons and AOC wants to slap a 70% marginal tax rate on techies.

It will only get worse.

We are back to the 1920s and 30s. I think the pendulum is swinging back.

That can only suffocate Amercia’s tech industry and enable China to leapfrog America with ease.

FB is a parasite. It has done tremendous harm and created little to no societal value. Most other tech companies are a different story, although I strongly believe access/sharing of user data needs to be regulated. Regulate access to user data and tax them to pay for it. It won’t hurt competitiveness, just becomes a cost of doing business in the US.

The study was posted here. Only the top 10% in Silicon Valley have higher real incomes than 20 years ago. Everyone else is worse off. You’d have a hard time telling people who’s real income has been declining for two decades that they are doing fine.

Stop hating. Go buy some FB stocks and you will change your mind.

Nothing wrong with that. Survival of the fittest. You can only expect people who are good with money to keep making more money.

Warren has a much deeper hate than DH0, by 100x

Warren who? Buffet? He’s so rich (or old, or both) that he can care less.
