US$140 is not rich enough in China? I know is not rich enough in USA, Japan and Hong Kong.

Cost how much to raise children in countryside?

Well you need to take it up with Li, the ex Premier of China. Nobody knows about that stat until he said it himself, and he used it to make the point China is still a poor country that needs to develop its economy first and foremost. Unlike his boss Xi who dreams about world domination each and every day.

Most young parents in the countryside leave for the cities to make better wages. If RMB 1000 is enough nobody would leave their newborns to the grandmas and toil in factories thousands of miles away. There is a whole social phenomenon called “Left behind kids” 留守兒童 focusing on the plight of these kids. Use your Chinese language skill to learn more about the real China. It’s not just shiny buildings and fast trains in Shanghai and Shenzhen.

However, some nations insist that China is a developed nation. And a certain nation is hellbent on destroying China’s economy and want to doom…

Thought Koreans, Indians and Philippine people did the same? Is it wrong to make some sacrifices in order to earn more?

Guess you don’t know the answer to below question…

 If grandmas can take care… then… else…

why is China less than India?

It’s a well documented phenomenon. There are far fewer Chinese immigrants in leadership position compared to Indian immigrants. I think a big part of it is the English language skill. Indians’ English is just a lot better, so they have much better soft skills like making small talks and telling jokes.

I see two possibilities…

One, way more Indians than Chinese immigrants.
Two, as pointed out by an Indian poster previously, India was a British colony and has an American school system from Kindergarten through K-12 to college. These Indians speak, think and behave like Americans.

Americans overall support high skill immigration. But if you ask who support high skill immigration the least? Easy. It’s the Republicans.

It’s still a majority of them supporting it. So why doesn’t it happen?

Right. Why doesn’t it happen? Has the GOP House majority introduced any immigration bill?

Democrats have had a majority most of the time since 1932. Why haven’t they? Trump wanted to create a merit based system similar to Canada’s. Democrats called it racist. They could have gotten it done then, but they were too busy being anti Trump to do anything useful. Now we essentially have a lame duck president that his own party doesn’t want running for re-election.

GOP controlled both the House and Senate from 2016 to 2018. Who was president during that time? Oh right. It’s Trump.

Do you realize how deeply unpopular it was with a large number of republicans? There’s a 0% chance all of them would have voted for it. There’s a 0% chance democrats would vote for anything proposed by Trump. That’s cool though. Let’s focus on 3 years instead of most of the last 90. :man_shrugging:

Trump is pro immigration… he married two Slavic women that would do the job American women would not…

Did they just fling open the border and take anyone or are they picking and choosing who to take?

Hungary is pushing back on EU calls for it to take more immigrants while importing people from Indonesia for some of its factories.
Of course, they’re fussy about which ones.
