Worldwide Baby Bust

Biggest problem is to make kids affordable. We don’t even have subsidized childcare so it’s mostly just cheap talk.

.

Presume you don’t understand the implication of below statement…

Yet your statement below seem to understand

Now I am not sure you know what you are talking about.

Yes, we know…

Muslims understand this very well.

And it’s optional whether men want to be a father?

Father and mother here means more than having 30 seconds of unprotected sex. Raising kids is hard work and expensive.

As I have said above. There are maybe 99 deadbeat dads to 1 deadbeat mom. I would prioritize educating men to be a responsible dad first.

Use fake stats…

to conclude…

:unamused:

Do you know how Tiger world operates? It works

One of the reasons for more single mothers than dads is that in court custody battles the woman is often favored.

Yeah, we definitely need more losers who can’t afford kids to be reproducing with their inferior genes for survival. That’ll help. Don’t you care about the environment? There’s no need for earth to have so many hands.

A better environment means more humans, not fewer. Not sure what inferior genes mean. Whose genes are inferior?

Humans consume resources to live. We consume food, water, electricity, etc. The earth has limited raw materials. Even if we magically all use EVs, it would take massive amounts of raw materials to build batteries and upgrade the grid. The more humans the more stress we place on the earth’s resources. Are you really going to argue against that?

I think low income people who can’t support themselves in the most prosperous country on earth have poor genetics. Whether it’s lack of ability or willingness, either way it’s bad to reproduce those genes. In the old days, those people died before reproducing.

Yes. I am really arguing against that.

First of all, energy intensity of our economy is going down. Each unit of economic output requires half as much energy now compared to 1983.

Not only that, our energy source is increasingly green:

So more humans does not necessarily lead to environmental disaster. I would argue more humans are actually beneficial. Why? We need to invest more economic resources to tackle climate. More people means a bigger economy. And we will have more resources at our disposal.

If that’s true, then why is there so much uproar over CO2 levels? They are going to plummet by 2050. We’ll be closer to another ice age than damaging warming.

It also doesn’t address food, water, or raw material consumption to build all the renewable sources and upgrade the grid.

CO2 and warm house gas accumulates. We need to remove the stuff already emitted. That’s why I say we need to invest huge amount of resources to fix it. Refraining from consumption won’t do it.

Food, water etc are all fixable by technology. More humans => bigger economy and more resources + brains to solve problems.

Yeah, that’s like solving drug addiction by producing more drugs and making them cheaper. Brilliant!

At the end of the day the earth - and with it, human society - is all powered by the sun which pours vast amounts of energy into the planet daily. It’s not a closed system. Even fossil fuels are a form of store solar energy. Humans have a history of discovering new resources when old ones get scare. This is why we don’t light our homes with whale oil anymore. The only resource that matters, apart from the sun, is human imagination and like the sun it is for all intents and purposes inexhaustible. I for one am not worried about global resources. I’m much more worried about population decline.

I made the mistake of turning on some news so I could catch up on the state of the stupid. You just can’t make this stuff up.
Will we die out over complacency and lack of mojo or over imbecility? If AI lives up to expectations maybe we’ll at least leave something intelligent behind. Or maybe we should leave nothing to tell our tale to the next sentient life form to emerge. Too embarrassing.

Really? Rationalizing why you’re staying at home while your wife is working? IMHO, no need to rationalize, my wife is smarter than me is why I’m a SAHD and blogging here.
