AAPL and Apple

Siri is still absolutely dreadful. It only understands the most basic commands. The LLM behind it must be super limited. I wonder if that’s to minimize latency or compute spend. Now I wonder how many engineers are working on Siri. If it’s over 100, then it’s just embarrassing.

It could also be their speech to text is awful, so the LLM gets garbage inputs. My guess is they have to transmit audio to servers then convert to text. I doubt they are converting speech to text on device. It should get everything said. Cell phone call quality is very high now.

.

No idea. Hardly use it. I hate to use my voice especially speaking to an inanimate object, yes, even to a phone… I prefer to type.

iPhone 15 is that good, that innovative, a must-have?

If these looters are in Lulumon store…

“There is good support near $165-170; only a sustained decline below this level would be negative. A decisive rise above $190 would suggest the resumption of the uptrend toward higher targets,” said Phases & Cycles’ analyst Monica Rizk.

More broadly, Apple looks to be suffering alongside other technology stocks from expectations shifting toward a higher-for-longer interest-rate environment. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index is down more than 9% from its July highs.

Agree. Not company-specific.

The Wall Street Journal reported late on Wednesday that the high-end iPhone 15 Pro appears to be suffering from overheating issues, based on tests and buyer comments.

Need to switch off live activities update for certain apps e.g. UBER, LYFT. Check settings/battery for which apps are eating battery.

Competing with Apple or stealing market share from Android market?

Packaging (aka Industrial design) is not the only thing that matters. Might be enough to have a cult-like following niche though.

Update Sep 29, 2023
Apparently is not an iPhone competitor. Is gunning for the future spatial computing… so don’t know is a competitor or a device that join the ecosystem of spatial computing. More details required.

Closing the loophole which China has previously turned a blind eye to.

Always repeat old news.

MeetKevin bought an iPhone 15 Pro Max  way to go.
 Can capture spatial computing photos and videos
 67% faster than iPhone 13
 Up to 8 phone numbers
 5x telephoto zoom

Wait, I can have 8 phone numbers now? I feel like this will be popular with people on Ashley Madison, lol.

Apple Maps needs a way to realize when someone is in underground parking. If I turn on navigation when I get in the car, then it’s going crazy with updates as I go through the garage to the surface.

I’ve given up hope on Siri understanding anything.

.

I do turn on navigation in car park but ignore it until I’m out.

I don’t like to use voice :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Brokers and realtors use to carry many phones, now only need one. For consumers, if you are the impatient type, can have a few different telecom providers. Switch through providers to get the fastest reliable web access.

I switched off the live activity option of Uber, no more over heating. Don’t use Instagram.

Don’t follow sports so no idea :man_shrugging:t3: whether this is a good investment. Guess Apple did this because of Eddy Cue. However would be interested to watch live sports using vision pro :+1:, ofc in 3D

Articles below summarize well the business challenges face by Apple currently.

Siri managed to figure out when I’m leaving the underground parking and doesn’t update the directions the whole time. Siri still hasn’t figured out the garage entrance isn’t on the street of the address though. It’s on the side of the building, and I still get directions to the front of the building.

Siri or map? Btw, you can report to Apple Maps the issue. There is an “report an issue” option on the map app.

I guess technically it’s maps. It’s just the annoying Siri voice…

Apple was the No. 1 watch brand among upper-income teens, according to the report, beating the likes of Casio, Garmin — and even Rolex.

“I’d give mainstream dominance of the smartphone at least another decade,” he said.

10 years window for Vision to become mainstream.

Apple is never first to market. They wait until the technology is mature enough to build a mainstream product.
