Realistic expectations.

Is why such hardware would be creepy. iPhone is a better choice. Deliberate action is critical. Hmm… wait… some people who have lewd habits of staring at people would like them! I am truly surprised that in a society where staring at people is considered rude, some1 can claim is ok to point a camera at a person without that person knowing it.
Not f… true. Anyhoo, not all day, definitely not inside a building. I have answered this question at least twice. Bad memory again!
.
I said that long ago. So do @maluka and Joseph. Bad memory again?

Thinking Aloud: What is the point of talking to some1 who has bad memory? Answering the same f… questions many times, still can forget. ![]()
Given his bad memory, what he said can’t be trusted. He remembered what he wants to remember and not what are said or reported, conveniently forgotten what are said or reported.
Apple made an augmented reality device, while Meta focused on virtual reality. And the basic distinction between the two is that AR is the future of computing while VR will always be much more limited.
Apple created a headset designed from the beginning for augmented reality. It can do VR games and movies, too, but that’s not its focus. It’s a multipurpose computer for home or office that uses AR instead of a traditional screen.
In contrast, recent Meta headsets are VR devices with AR capabilities tacked on. The original Quest came out in 2019. And the third-gen model — the first with significant AR support — only arrived a few months ago.
Overall, Counterpoint says that Apple’s total sales were flat in 2023, and that this was despite its major competitors declining.
Context
Competitors’ sale is declining yet iPhone sales remain steady.
Separately, IDC has reported that smartphone sales in China declined 5% between 2022 and 2023, but that the iPhone declined the least at 2.2%. This made the iPhone China’s best-selling smartphone.

Thank you for using Siri. Some1 said nobody use Siri
. The same person also said nobody wear watches
Sale of Apple Watches went gangbuster. Siri is AI? The same person also said Apple has no AI. Hmm… Guess the only “failed” AI is Siri. I conclude all other AI implementation is ![]()
Binary thinking strikes again. Clearly the “nobody” is rhetorical, doesn’t mean literally zero people use Siri.
But anyway I bet Jim won’t be using Siri from now on.
Siri uses a branch of AI called natural language processing. NLP has long been a subfield of AI. There is more to AI than LLM.
Maybe look up what “literal” means as well?

Below is some ideas that a creative developer can do. Dull CEOs of startup that return AVP within the 14 days return policy won’t be able to think of.
Those who read Reddit, X, Instagram, Facebook and whatever social media, only get rumors, hearsays, opinions and hallucinations. Hard core facts are found in patents, research papers and similar publications.
Apple research paper hints at LLMs on iPhones and Macs.
Apple has been late to the game on large language models (LLM) but is making interesting moves lately. The company’s researchers recently unveiled a method that significantly reduces the memory requirement for running LLMs. This breakthrough hinges on novel storage and memory management techniques that dynamically transfer the model’s weights between flash memory and DRAM while keeping latency impressively low.
Their approach makes it possible to run these large models with decent throughput, even when it is partially loaded on the device’s RAM. This could be significant for Apple, which does not have a hyperscaler business and would benefit immensely from on-device AI. The technique could enable future iPhones and Macs to harness the power of LLMs without overwhelming the system’s memory.
Since Apple doesn’t has a hyperscaler business, it didn’t need that many H100s as businesses such as MSFT. Just saying… for those who can’t think.
Chamath suggested Apple should start an Apple Cloud to compete with AWS, Azure and Google Cloud. Apple already has an Apple Cloud, is called iCloud. Guess he is suggesting adding more cloud services similar to those offer by those big threes. Currently Apple doesn’t have enough DCs and has to buy cloud services from those big threes. Is it worthwhile to build many DCs and buy huge amount of over-priced H100s?
For the cult black is white and up is down.
