Sounds like he wants to design more than just Apple stuff. It’s weird he’s starting his own firm with Apple as a client. I can’t remember seeing this before.

Or he’s getting better tax treatment with a pass through.
Imagine all the products he could design and take a royalty on sales. At least that’s how I’d charge for the service. That way you have huge upside vs collecting a flat fee. I’m sure companies would be willing to guarantee a minimum fee per product amount too. Then he really has no downside and all upside.
We should all do that, works beautifully with the new tax code introduced by Trump.
