California has the worst quality of life

Never got into arcades. By the time I came to America and started to understand stuff, I was playing Super Nintendo. Street Fighter 2 Turbo and Mario Kart were my jam.

Nope, that’s garbage. The original machines are way more valuable. I bought this machine from my neighbor who helps throw the CA Extreme Pinball/Video Game convention in Santa Clara every July or so. Maybe you cats will finally meet the Dragonboy there…

My neighbor has over 30 games and pinball in his garage… Worth a lot of money. He has games that are so rare, maybe 1 of 10 in the world. Some signed by the creator.

Only special to old nerds.
kidding.

The garage is not even finished. You and him should roll up the sleeves and hang some sheetrock. Free workout.

Shoooot, I’ll trade my fully insulated, epoxy floored semi detached garage with separate W/D built in cabinet and stainless steel commercial sink station for his garage any day… Oh, i got one of those LiftMaster jack drive garage door openers too!!!

If you want those items, you can. Money is not an issue, clearly. Sure some items are of one a kind but still.

Not that dudes mind at all but making it nicer is nice. I’ll show up after it’s done since I’m not handy.

Speaking of garage… mine is like a hoarder’s house. Too lazy! sigh

Mine is missing my 1991 Black Honda CRX Si… waahhhhhhh!!!

I’m old enough to remember pong and than asteroids. Space Duel was an undated version of asteroids. Galaga is an old favorite and I still can’t pass up a Galaga machine. I get to about level 30 without doubling up ships which I consider a boring way to play.

Best video game of all time was 70’s custom job at Stanford in one the haunts near the bowling alley. Two dueling ships or four if you linked terminals. Simple graphics. Options - wrap-around screen, reflect off edge screen, ship speeds 1-4, torpedo speeds 1-4, positive gravity sun in the middle with options to vary the gravitational attraction enabling things like slingshots around it to get at you opponent. Or a negative gravity sun. Hyperspace feature had you disappear from the screen; you had to track your location in your head based on x/y coordinate readouts. You could escape into hyperspace or go in to destroy an opponent who had already entered. Battles on a blank starfield where everyone has to visualize their position based on coordinate. Good stuff. Nothing like it since. Graphics don’t make the game for me.

Are you in the Bay Area? I can maybe get you into the convention next year. I have sooo many people that want to go I might have to ask my neighbor for possible discount tickets. Two full days of gaming for you in Santa Clara. You pay something like $40-50 bucks and then FREE play on all of the classics up to 2am on Sat night. I helped my neighbor move like 18-19 games onto a semi truck so he owes me a ticket or two. I finally went this year (normally really busy at work in the summer months) with my surgeon brother inlaw (Jedi Master at Defender) and my buddy who is trying to source a pinball machine for his man cave. We all had a blast!!! Def going next year…

Look it up in the internet… California Extreme Pinball and Arcade Convention

Yup, I heard of it. Groupon had discount tixs once and I forgot to buy them. Another buddy who loved pinball went with his wife. Had a ton of fun. I may go over there one day if I can avoid Oakland… LOL

Talk about inflation.

It’s over 20$ for adult now? Ouch.

Take the ferry :ferry:
It’s a scenic route :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Breweries and wine/spirits places with city views (when no fog ) less than 10m away on that side of the island.

Well, all day in theory right? If I remember correctly, pinballs these days or recently are like a buck a game??? Shoot, $22 is a deal…

If you’re not a nerd, cough, an hour is plenty :joy:

Or if your misses is not that into it, you’re definitely not staying that long.

Uh, wifey stays home…

Next year, even though only in Santa Clara, we may rent a room and have our poker game there Sat night while we break for video games. That, would be fun!!!

We went about 4-5 years ago. I thought it was $20 for adults too. Agree it’s a good deal, but if your kids are whiners, just leave them home. Otherwise you can’t stay all day. :stuck_out_tongue:

Shoot, if it weren’t for my bro-inlaw and buddy I would have stayed to 2am by myself in Santa Clara!!! I drove so had to get these bums back to home. Probably around midnight, the lines thin out and you can play to your heart’s content!!! But, noooooooooo!!!
