I actually think more testing and therefore more confirmed cases is better. It will show fatality rate is really quite low, and concentrated in old people with existing health problems. Korea tested more than 100K and fatality rate is 0.6%. If US is close to that level it will help calm people down. Unknown is far more scary than known.
Totally agreed. Social media is not helping. Right now numbers are off since they have tested only the super serious ones. It will take them time though to test 10k
Do Americans listen to CDC recommendation to hunker at home for 2 weeks when tested positive and not serious? Or they have free will to move around since theyâre A-OK? Do we have the resources to track whether they comply and if not, punish such as jail or fine, them? Enough jail? Can fine without any court cases? Do we have enough beds/ nurses to quarantine those serious ones luxuriously?
Absolutely. It is far better than flying in the dark. It also gives doctors and epidemiologists clearer idea how it is spreading and where is spreading.
Absolutely agree. And the stress of this being viewed as so fatal is going to actually cause some deaths since stress suppresses the immune system
Goodness. The panic is definitely worse than the virus. Sigh.
That said, should make a good lawsuit for the guy who got fired.
PS: That guy looks like heâs doing just fine and heâs on the older side.
When emergency is declared, quarantine is mandatory and can be enforced. Thatâs why they declared emergency near the Travis AFBâsomeone wanted to leave.
That is in the US.
Donât break quarantine in North Korea. Or youâll be executed. Gotta give it to KJU thoughâno one will break quarantine again.
Weâre freer, yes, but weâre also far more spread out with a much lower average population density. That is likely the largest determining factor.
We should just ban cruise ships.

Iâm an expat in Seoul living amid the coronavirus outbreak. I feel like Iâm living in the end times.
A study in contrast this afternoon. We were at Main Street Cupertino. Hai Di Lao which averages 2 hour waits had only 5 tables seated. Across the street, Lazy Dog was packed and overflowing. So we went to hai di Lao which we usually skip (too long a wait) and told all our friends
Asians panic but non-Asians are not afraid? Probably true since there is no fear in Austin where there are hardly any Asians even in Asian restaurants. Anyhoo, Ranch 99 is full of people so is my favorite sushi revolving restaurants - rival the one in MainStreet Cupertino. Frankly, if youâre below 50, shouldnât be too worry. My profile is 1 out of 10 fatality if infected, I should be the one that need to be worried.
Thatâs disgusting. Imagine all the spit on your sushi as it passes by every table.
You spit on the sushi and put them back? Btw have you been to a revolving sushi restaurants lately?
After eating the sushi on the plates, the empty plates are put into a sliding hole where it is recorded. Admin is computerized.
