Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 Covid-19

.

Could be over reporting to obtain better funding. AFAIK, there is no universal definition for a death to be considered as a Covid death. Or India is covering up.

US hospitals got extra funding for each covid patient. They had a financial incentive to claim as many deaths as possible were from covid. Anyone with covid symptoms was marked as covid death even if covid wasn’t the cause.

Which also unfortunately messed with the reporting of how serious Covid hospitalizaions were too. If you’re in for liver failure because you were already sick, but you test positive for Covid, you’re now a Covid-hospitalized patient…

The Amish and Covid.

That’s fascinating.

I wonder if their diets are different. It was interesting the scene in the bakery with all the desserts - it surprised me - but how much refined crap do they possibly eat if they’re growing a lot of stuff themselves?

And how many of them could possibly be obese? Their lifestyle is probably protective.

The one guy interviewed early on was definitely overweight. But yeah, lots of exercise and very little processed food. And very strong social ties.

“We see primarily Amish and other plain people here at PMC, and the opposite is actually the case. Because the Amish are such a tight knit community, and because they have largely ignored all safety protocols among themselves, they have experienced a much higher than average Covid-19 infection rate,” Hoover told AFP in an email.

He said the medical center has seen many cases of Covid-19 among Amish patients, including deaths. He noted that while infections are high, death rates from the virus are lower because “their older people live with family and extended family and not in old people’s homes, and usually maintain a healthier lifestyle.”

PS: I’m not sure the size of the population that these studies cover. Would be very curious what their overall death percentage rate was.

…and, as with all other reporting, how many deaths attributed to Covid were among people who were already deathly ill.

For those of you that are not old enough, there was a drug available for pregnant women in the 1950s that led to birth defects on a massive scale in Europe. It was never used here because the FDA never approved it.

Wow, imagine if someone called that months ago….

Yeah, this was again called very early on that it would never permanently go away, and we’d be living with it forever the same as the flu.

Literally from the paper:

“ Vaccination reduces the risk of delta variant infection and accelerates viral clearance”

The results they provided show that vaccination does reduce infection.

But not that much really.

Thanks! I should be honest that I skimmed it, posted it, and ran - I didn’t look up the details like I normally do. If you think the title is disingenuous, feel free to post the details.

Shanghai Disneyland is shut down, and 30,000 people are tested, after one COVID case

On Sunday evening, the city suddenly closed Shanghai Disneyland and banned anyone inside from leaving. It also shut down the metro station that services the theme park.

I don’t agree with China’s “Covid zero” policy, but you have to factor in their ruthlessness and efficiency if you claimed they are covering up massive case outbreaks or worse, millions of Covid deaths. I believe China’s official numbers are not that far off reality, but I also don’t think this kind of frantic zeal is sustainable.
