At first when I heard it the news sounded like a joke - like back when the Yugo was popular, SNL had a commercial for the “Adobe” - a mexican built minicar …
but it’s a real deal - a Vietnamese EV manufacturer - VinFast - is about to start selling vehicles here in the UW. One of several articles about the company you can find on-line.

There are so many EV options now. That’s a huge improvement from the original i3 which was hideous.

EV ranges are highly variable and can easily be cut in half depending on driving conditions.

That review of the Vinfast VF8 seemed to be from a Tesla fanboi and not a very neutral person. Yes, there may be issues with the car, but it seems as if the engineers are going to listen to the consumers rather than jump 3 spaces ahead only to fall back 2 when things go badly. The warranty also seems like they are taking a page from Hyundai who in the late 80’s had terrible product and image issues, but turned things around with their extended warranty solution. Having ridden in a Model S and a Model X, I can say from first hand there are build quality issues baked into Elon’s product still.
Some other EV’s -
The Electric Hummer: (Blegh, IMHO)
and Fisker Ocean. An interesting vehicle, but with Fisker’s previous BK its a company that I’d be hesitant to buy from.
Personally speaking I’m still waiting for my Electric Ural.
