The idiocy about his statement is that he lied because he was playing to a very specific audience - Trump - following his playbook and to the Fox news audience. His problems with drinking are now becoming public knowledge from multiple sources including Trump. Multiple people know he has a drinking problem, yet even on that he lied.
If he can lie about something so obvious, what else is he lying about?

Kavanaugh was not arrested, but the police report stated that a 21-year-old man accused Mr. Kavanaugh of throwing ice on him “for some unknown reason.”
A witness to the fight said that Chris Dudley, a Yale basketball player who is friends with Mr. Kavanaugh, then threw a glass that hit the 21-year-old man in the ear, according to the police report, which was obtained by The New York Times.
The report said that the victim, Dom Cozzolino, “was bleeding from the right ear” and was treated at a hospital. A detective was notified of the incident at 1:20 a.m.

Everything is based on you said , he said, she said. Respect the legal system and let it play out before making conclusion. Let the evidence talk, the prosecutor if they find the evidence, they will do their job.
I’m not against putting him in jail and stuff, but come on, we are living in america, everyone is innocent until PROVEN guilty. NY times/CNN we all know how credible these POS are.
Let the police or FBI collect the facts , evidence before making any conclusion
Sorry, but Supreme Court justices’ sheet stink just as much as anybody else’s. Let’s not make them out to be infallible or demi gods. They are humans just like you and me. This is the same court that had no issue with rent control, remember??? What a joke…

He has to lie about his drinking because both victims described him as very drunk at the time of assault. If it’s established he was a heavy drinker and prone to violence and blackout the victims’ case would have strengthened. People would think “maybe he did it but forgot because he’s drunk.” He doesn’t want to entertain that possibility.

you mentioned he’s a alcholic, did he has any DUI, went to rehab? and does he have violent history about domestic violence?

There’s a reason job applications ask about conviction of a crime and not accused of a crime.
By your logic, you’d never hire any of the Duke lacrosse kids, since they were accused of sexual assault. They were even charged. The coach who had nothing to do with it was forced to resign. It was a year later before charges were dropped.

What is weak sauce is BK’s main character witness, Mark Judge, who will not testify because he can’t remember the incident. This is understandable, considering his condition while at prep school with BK.

Between BK’s lying in his testimony and hearing about the evidence submitted in yearbook and calendar, replete with language suggesting drunken partying-- beach week, 'skis, ralph club, boofing, devil’s triangle, (girl’s name) alumnae-- he does NOT sound like someone with whom anyone(male or female) would want to be personally associated. The hearing leaves many doubts about his character, reliability in answering questions truthfully, and his past. In choosing a candidate to fill a seat on the Supreme Court, there should be no such doubts. I would rather err on the side of safety and vote no.

There is a difference between political appointee and employee in a private firm. A political appointee is by definition “political”. The public has to be behind the nominee. So far it’s going in the other direction.

Drink is alright. Just don’t lie about it. Definitely not under oath in Congress.
