You just woke up and your brain is not fully operational.
@Roy321 implied China tries to coverup the issue about coronavirus and hence US is not aware earlier (I presume he is going along with Trump claim that he would do better if he is aware earlier) @ww13 said that the info got out and USA should be aware earlier before the official China announcement.
My view is, just two different systems, in Singapore, pretty sure Singapore government would view the research centre as overstepping its authority.
USA is built upon not trusting the government. Hence Americans favor freedom of speech, freedom of press, rights to bear arms, …
Now I get it. US is unique in the regard that freedom of speech is revered so highly. Although I would say that has been on a decline for the last 30 years. Now the Universities and companies like Google, Twitter, Facebooks are the biggest speech censoring agencies.
I think it has been covered many times in this thread. the drug is not safe. It has serious side effects. Let the professionals handle when the benefits outweigh the drawbacks.
The politics the left and Trump haters are playing with hydroxychloroquine is sickening. Nevertheless, hydroxychloroquine continues to be attractive:
Many other companies have also jumped the bandwagon.
Last week, Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. TEVA also announced the immediate donation of more than 6 million doses of hydroxychloroquine sulfate tablets through wholesalers to hospitals across the United States.
Mylan N. V. MYL too restarted production of hydroxychloroquine sulfate tablets at its West Virginia manufacturing facility in the United States to meet the expected increased demand, resulting from potential effectiveness of the product in treating COVID-19. The company is also taking steps to initiate the production of this product outside the United States in the coming weeks.
I will never say Trump’s claim is right. He pads the biggest, i.e. if it’s 2, he will 10 etc.
However, unlike other countries with no freedom that’s not the case in USA, in fact its the opposite so let’s preserve it. I believe that’s the right path(unlike say UK where what is defined as “hate speech” is determined by government and government can shut down discussion based on that “reasoning”/excuse).
So, My point is even if a claim comes from Trump or his administration let’s examine the claim. Let’s verfiy the facts. Let’s not shut the discussion down using different excuses such as PC or racism.
The free and fair discussions are the biggest fear left has. They can control government, they can control media companies, they can control digital media companies, but they cannot control the minds of the independent thinkers.
Are you implying this is going on? I didn’t sense it.
That is what is going on. In case you did miss my unsaid corollary: Using our own yardstick, we are all correct. However, doesn’t mean the other side is dong something wrong. Allow me to repeat,
On further thought, delete the last phrase, and not judge using your yardstick
There are smart Republicans. There are smart Democrats. I’m not sure why you view using hydroxychloroquine as a treatment as a political issue.
People are simply saying that we should verify that the drug works against COVID-19 using hard science. As mentioned already, the FDA has approved its use in compassion cases.
I also find it odd that this become a political issue. Emotion All of us are in a state of hypersensitivity This is a drug that is best left to doctors’ decision to prescribe as appropriate.
On further thought, I think I made a statement that might sound like treating it as a political issue too, although in my mind I was thinking of “This is a drug that is best left to doctors’ decision to prescribe as appropriate.” With current elevated sensitivity, I should be very very very careful with my phrasing and choice of words.
Pretty obvious at least to me. Trump has been trying to make the virus look like not a big deal. First he tried to brush it off as yet another flu. I hope even the die hard Trumpers here finally realized it’s not. Now that it becomes uncool to downplay it he tries to a) deflect the blame and b) peddle miracle potions. Look, things are under control. We have these miracle drugs that are lying in plain sight. It will be over soon. Oh, in case it doesn’t, remember, Trump is perfect and it’s always other people/countries/races’ fault.
It’s kind of hard to claim this isn’t a big deal, right? Even Trump has acknowledged that this is a big deal. Regardless of whether you think the virus is going to kill a lot of people or not, the world economy has largely been halted.
One thing is c[quote=“DoctorOcho, post:1775, topic:8182, full:true”]

One thing has been clear since the start of the crisis that it is not a very lethal virus. It has a shorter half life. And most people who get infected will survive. At least that is the impression I get on seeing the data coming out so far.
True, the world economy is suffering. But, it should not suffer more than it already has. There is a politically motivated group in politics, media, and the bureaucracy that want economy to crash and Trump to get blamed for it. That is the impression I have.
The politically motivated resistance to Trump is bigger threat to economy than the virus itself.
Everybody know this. However, many are over 60 and/or have diabetes/hypertension or have loved ones that are. People have panicked. The top priority is to calm them down. You think repeating your observation would do it?
