Impact of election on market

While we’re at it, Asians end up being thrown into this. On our city’s FB page, someone said:

“People of color have been scared and angry for their entire lives. It’s not just Black people, it’s Latinos and Asians and Muslims and anybody who is different. We need change and those of us who haven’t had to endure the pain of racism need to be part of that change. Thanks to the Black community for standing up for that change.”

Of course when Asians work at Google and Facebook and gentrify the city, I guess they do indeed piss off this poster. Maybe I’ll call her on it next time she complains…

And I totally respect that especially during Covid, it has been hard on Asians, but to compare how Asians are doing as immigrants jobwise vs. black people is like night and day. In fact, the biggest complaint I hear from Asian parents is concerns that their male children are predjudiced against in college applications. How many Asians guys get stopped and asked “Is this luxury car yours?” Obviously with Google’s salaries, it’s theirs.

The worst mistake the Democrats make is lumping illegals in with all the other Hispanics.
The last thing a Mexican-American citizen wants for themselves or their childred is hordes of illegals competing for jobs and putting pressure on social services. Caesar Chavez hated their guts - how could he bargain for better wages when farmers could just import more illegals?

The biggest champion of illegal immigrantion was agriculture corporations. Trump ignored them and closed the border. Now farm workers make $35/hr. A win for American labor, despite being called racist. Biggest winner… legal Mexican Americans.

More manipulated data. Even when sick, relentlessly lying to the American people.

Didn’t you claim you were a scientist and question conspiracy theories? And “driven by data”?

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has proposed raising the corporate tax rate to 28% from 21%, imposing a new minimum tax on U.S. companies and increasing taxes on foreign income of many U.S.-based multinationals, among other plans.

Together, the tax proposals would reduce expected earnings among companies in the S&P 500 by 9.2%, according to estimates from BofA Global Research. And the pain would be more acute in some sectors than others.

You have to understand that Trump doesn’t believe in looking weak. At all. It’s literally at the core of who he is. You should expect him to try to look like he’s healthy and strong until he drops dead.

Trump is not a private citizen. He is the president of the country and commander of the armed forces. The public has the right to know full and accurate details of his health.

Trump is now given steroid, which is only given to patients with severe cases of Covid. And the WH doctor said in news conference he could be discharged on Monday? Give me a break.

Survey found Americans don’t feel sympathy for Trump. 3/4 said Trump has only himself to blame.

steriods are no big deal. people get it all the times.

Agreed. It should probably be routine for Covid from what I’ve read.

I ight agree that the people should have full and accurate details (I do think there could be times when it is not appropriate for national security, but this isn’t that time), but again, you need to understand that this guy–at his core–does not believe in weakness. Not just in not showing it, but he believes it to be a horrible thing. So you’ll have to put everything that he does in that context.

What is released by his doctors is likely between them and Pence who is probably running things in the background right now.

Steriods are for fighting inflammation (for any reason). Just like people take Mortin (or brufen available OTC) to reduce pain. Or Tylenol to reduce temperature. These are just to help you fight symptoms. Disease itself is fought by your bodys immune system. That is why taking or not taking these (steroids, or brufen etc) does not make much difference in your ability to fighting the disease.

The spin is interesting to take note of. When RBG was sick and out of court for weeks and month, she was portrayed as a brave girl who was fighting cancer.

My understanding is that it was helpful for stopping the cytokine/brandykinin/whatever it is storm that is what destroys the ability to breathe.

I do not think steroid is to destroy anything. These are just to relieve symptoms.

It’s thought that some of the worst effects of COVID-19 are often caused not by the virus itself – but by a massive immune system response called a cytokine storm. It floods the body with proteins (cytokines) that trigger widespread inflammation. That can cause potentially fatal organ damage.

Steroid medications like dexamethasone and prednisone – which are anti-inflammatory and suppress the immune system – make sense in that scenario, according to Cron. But if a COVID-19 patient does not have serious systemic inflammation, a steroid might backfire – hampering the immune system’s ability to fight the virus.

It is the same theory i said. For example, temperature above 105 can be damaging. But, Tylenol is only to reduce the temperature, not treat the illness or disease.
