Impact of election on market

So far Trumps condition indicates Covid19 is a minor illness for 99% of us. If he is healthy again quickly you nanny state conspiracy left wing nuts will have to shut up and let this country get back to normal. 200K have died… yes but 3.2m Americans die every year. The rest of us want to get out on Newsoms jail.
I have no problem wearing a mask. But even the nannies have to admit they aren’t even 75% effective

As far as testing random people… a total waste of time and resources. Obviously steroids administered early are key, along with oxygen

I don’t know–he’s in the higher risk category given his age. I don’t think there’s a lot to conclude whether he lives or dies. Except that he should’ve taken better precautions.

Masks are effective at slowing down contagion. There was a study done on mask wearing of relatives living in same household as people with the flu, and it cut it down significantly. It’s just not 100%, and should never be expected to be. 50% is still better than 0%

But they definitely should’ve spaced people out more at the Rose Garden.

Trump is the president of the most powerful nation on earth. He has access to the most advanced medicine, including ones not even on the market yet, and the best doctors on this planet. So yes, he survives means all of us plebeians can just laugh it off.

Steroids and oxygen… no big deal

Too bad science took 6 months to figure it out.

Everyone at the Trump gathering was tested. A lot of waste of time and effort. Masks and social distancing yes. Putting millions out of work no.
Millions get flu pneumonia and a host of other killers. We will survive without the hysteria and hype. Of course it will all go away if Biden is elected.

I agree that putting everyone out of work to protect people in nursing homes was not the way to go. And apparently it didn’t work anyways since healthcare workers tend to work multiple jobs at multiple places. :frowning: I’m still waiting to hear what the teen and child suicide rate is. Not only that there will be lasting consequences because of the lack of schooling for low-income families. Was just reading an article on how school shut-downs in the past (often due to refusal to integrate black/white communities) had lifelong effects on the kids especially wrt job prospects and lifelong earning capacity.

Last I heard, people are saying that “maybe” Sweden did the right thing.

If it works, then let’s reopen the haircutting places…

Only question is whether by “tested positive” it was a nasal or throat swab indicating actual potential to be contagious. If blood test, then this doesn’t mean much.

My friend who worked in the emergency room in New Jersey in April said many health care workers were infected. Even professionals can’t make masks 100% effective. But they were young and healthy. Their HONDA patients died like flys before they understood how to use the right steroids. Covid19 shows the limits of science. It’s failures and how Mother Nature is all powerful.

These are VERY different situations. This is exactly why the CDC f*cked up by saying masks wouldn’t work. You as a day-to-day person are not coming into contact with Covid the way a hospital worker is. If you manage to stave off a single person getting you sick in the month, you cut transmission significantly. The hospital workers are going to catch it eventually. Even the women treating the guy who had Ebola caught it with all the protections they were wearing.

Sweden did the right thing? What about Korea? Taiwan? Japan? Or even third world country like Vietnam?

Come on now. The world is bigger than Europe and America.

Just quoting an article I read… take it up with the author.

Also, Sweden had no mask requirement. I thought all the Asian countries did.

Might be why they singled them out for comparison to parts of the US where they didn’t expect mask mandates to work for kids.

Mask wearing didn’t have to become a cultural fight. It seems to be uniquely American. Even today, months after the original outbreak, many people still wear masks voluntarily when they are out and about in China. It’s not comfortable. Sure. But that’s a small price to pay.

If we did just two things: wide spread mask wearing and strict social distancing, especially in indoor space, we probably would have been much better off today, and Trump would be coasting to victory in November. Instead he shot himself in the foot. Big time.

It didn’t, but once the CDC announced it wouldn’t work, they had to save face. The CDC is another swamp that needs to be purged.

The oxygen thing is a bit weird; one source put Trump’s low a 94. That’s not a bad number; lots of healthy 74 years olds walk around with that. When I came in at 97 I was told that was excellent. Maybe his baseline is 99 or something; I can believe it after watching all those rallies.

Masks are fine but what protected my friend and his colleagues was their strong immune systems. A mask can only do so much. But young people should be allowed to work. Kids should go to school. Quarantine the vulnerable not the rest of us.

They were wrong about ventilators and they were wrong about how it was spread and by whom. It’s science and scientists who need a little less hubris - not Trump.

Given where England, France and Spain are right now I doubt we would be “much better off” regardless of what we did.

Absolutely agree. That Vitamin D is protective means people should be supplementing and kids should be outside at recess.
