This is all BS. We should have a one page tax code where everyone pays the same rate on all income above the poverty line. No deductions. No credits. No games. Politicians will talk about everyone paying their fair share, but they’d never agree to it. Giving away tax breaks to lobbyist groups is too lucrative to their campaign funding.

How to deal with those with kids?
There should be no income tax. Period. Historically, the governments have run on consumption tax (like excise, customs, sales tax etc). Everyone who consumes will pay tax at same rate- legal, illegal, senior, junior, rich, poor. Taxing income in he USA is barely 100 years old practice , and its time is over.

The rationale for so many sources is to stabilize tax revenue. Otherwise, it could swing up and down too violently.
So many tax sources are to fund a bloated government so that connected people have an easy money to steal from. Even for a smartest thief, it is difficult to steal private money. But, government money can be stolen with lesser effort by connected people.
Poverty line adjusts for size of household.

If true consumption tax like VAT is introduced along with customs. expect inflation to go even higher and people will start stealing Amazon and all delivery vans instead of just packages.
Europeans as predicted continue on there path regardless Biden spending a week in Europe. even offering a global tax.

Climate Change and society are political slogans. Economy drives business relations.
First of all, Europe is not monolithic and much of the Europe has very little to stand on without the US support, at least in near future. Who other than Germany is eager about China? US is loosing its influence over the world, but Europe is unlikely to fall out of American sphere of influence.
I am not sure why you think these are political slogans. Climate change damage is already shown in various studies. similar studies are done on societies productivity. but it will be too racist to publish them as countries and cultures will get graded.
Europe is monolithic entity despite too many talking heads. It has tight monetary and industrial policies that is controlled from Germany. I already explained to you before. Trucks and trains enter and exit through Germany. to make sure not a single country in Europe remain independent.
Germany will get even more richer and more advanced in R&D as it is backed by Asian wealth and Turkish labor.
This is just one example. No one ask this person why you cannot say No and this is Sweden with hardly any border with Germany.
And of course the beauty of consumption taxes is that now thieves, drug dealers and pimps have to pay just like the rest of us.

I call them political slogans because they are designed to tax people and certain industry, mostly those in the USA. Neither Germany nor China actually want to do for themselves as what they want the US to do.
Both Germany and China are densely populated. Population is not fleeing cities.
when population is organized in such away. its far easy to create industrial towns and supply chains with efficient transport.
both have tremendous industrialization and they produce physical products that world needs.
Germany is not facing water crises on same extent as US is now facing.
Germany is not facing fires on same scale.
so why you think they should be taxed more?
