San Francisco Is The Place To Be

Lack of state income tax isn’t necessarily a big deal if property taxes are huge which they are in states like Texas. AZ has an income tax - a flat 2.5%. Meanwhile property taxes are reasonable.

Stability, healthcare, education, culture & environment, infrastructure.

Note that housing affordability is not one of the criteria. That’s the root cause of pretty much every social problem we have in the state. The YIMBY movement is doing God’s woke to bulldoze NIMBYs and correct the situation.

We are too desirable a place to live and too many people want to live here. Need far more housing to fit us all in.

Stability is the only criteria which would matter to me and after COVID everywhere and the Floyd riots here I’d need to see years of it to even consider urban living.

Culture - every place has its culture; just pick one to your liking.
Healthcare - live rural and stay healthy. Clean air, easy to exercise, fresh food, no muggers.
Entertainment - if you haven’t got the freedom to make your own and need someone to do it for you you don’t have any entertainment.
Infrastructure - only important if the place is too crowded to be liveable anyway.

I always say live where ever that makes you happy. We are lucky to have this huge country with lots of different lifestyles to choose from. Find one and be happy there.

What’s baffling is why so many out of town people are trying to convince me why my home is a hellhole.

No US city has made the top 10. That’s curious considering the net migration between the US and the countries with cities ranking the highest.

I meant David Ortiz. I always get them mixed up. Explain him then? Tested positive and nowhere near Bonds numbers, but a nice guy. That, is why he is in.

Ok, you guys better watch out. This move is guaranteed to vault the Fab 7x7 to the moon!!! LOL

(OMG, can we get a new Mayor…please???)

You want Peskin as mayor? C’mon man. Breed is fine.

I am up for tearing down that stupid mall. Do tourists go all the way to NYC to go to indoor malls?

He made the famous speech after the Boston Marathon bombing. That made him an icon.

When I lived in Niles Canyon and needed something I couldn’t get locally I’d sometimes go to the Stoneridge Mall in Pleasanton. It was nicely done and quite popular. Reasonable parking. Anyone know if that mall is still a “thing?”

Uh, you obviously did not go inside many of the malls in Malaysia or Singapore…

Come on, all I am asking for is consistency and reasonableness. Yes, Barry was a penis to all the media but at the end of the day he was an amazing ball player. I am willing to give you he made a mistake, a big one, but we all make mistakes. I am fine with excluding Barry but then David Ortiz should not be in there either then.

On the subject of culture here’s what’s on the local agenda for next weekend.
Got this? Well, do you

We in SF are more into these. Pride parade yesterday:

But we also have this. Lots of options for different tastes. Monster Truck at Chase Center this coming August.

The transformation of the Fab 7x7 to A.I. capital of the world is underway!!! It’s been mentioned so many times before but it really is true: this area is just too chock full of the needed talent of tomorrow. Sorry, you ain’t gonna get that in Gary, Indiana…

@manch is it NIMBY power?

Yup. These 4 are YIMBYs:

Supervisors Ahsha Safaí, Catherine Stefani, Matt Dorsey and Joel Engardio dissented from the vote.

The other 7 are big old NIMBYs. I think being a YIMBY is a pretty accurate litmus test. The people who vote against housing will most likely also vote against public safety, vote against public transit, secretly despise Asians, and uphold policies that let people overdose to death out on the streets.

Progressives who don’t want to make any progress in society. Progressives in name only.

We need to flip two seats next year to realign the SF BoS back to a growth agenda.
