Tesla’s trillion dollar valuation is fast approaching

Sorry, I checked… says early 2021.

Listening to “objective” people will not get you far. You need to be a little zealous and idealistic to win.

always need calculated risk. Otherwise it would have been easy to beat the index.

Tesla HQ keeps a second-by-second log of every car. Can owners opt out? Why would anyone subject themselves to such 24-hour surveillance?

Americans freak out over some theoretical, potential surveillance by Chinese companies. Some are pretty farfetched like riding a Chinese made train car will somehow get your credit card information stolen or something. And yet they have no problem being monitored 24x7 by Musk and Bezos.

What’s a better truck? Japanese?

because there’s no CPC in USA & no emperor

Anyways, lets get back on topic

CCP doesn’t have jurisdiction in US and can’t do anything to Americans. I’d much rather have the Chinese access my data than the Feds. But sure, it’s a personal choice. Between Alexa and Tesla the Feds know where you are, what you do/say 24/7.

don’t invest in Tesla & Amazon, easy peasy…

Let them know. Who cares. Your life and data are nothing special. Tons of people doing the exact same thing you are doing. They can care less.

The feds can’t even access the data without a warrant. Even then, remember when Apple refused to unlock the San Bernardino shooter’s phone? What would happen in China if Huawei refused to do that? In China, you can go to jail for being critical of the government, and the FBI worries you more?

@manch was trying to stir up the thread …

Google/Facebook/any big tech company regularly turn over email/data to federal government. Warrants are not that difficult to get. The main reason Apple encrypts everything and doesn’t even allow themselves to have the key is to avoid being forced by courts to turn over data.

I don’t want to trust Tesla with my second-by-second log of my own car. Why rely on courts to protect my data? The best solution is not to let them have it in the first place. Same with Alexa.

CCP doesn’t have jurisdiction over me in the US. Why worry about them? I worry about the Feds. If just mentioning the word “China” stirs up too much emotion, substitute it with any random third country like Germany. German government can have all my data. I don’t care. US government? Hell no.

I have been looking into robot lawn mowers. They haven’t even perfected them. Long way before cars are fully automated.
Robot Lawnmowers have to have wires staked to the ground to guide them. But they can still flip over, get stopped by a pine cone or a dog toy. They really don’t work without supervision. Basically a toy to watch while you drink beer. They can cost $2500. A basic gas mower starts at $150. Even a fancy rider mower that can hold you and your beer, starts at less than $1000.

Just pay some neighborhood kid to mow the lawn for you. $2500 is enough to cover many years of lawn mowing.

It’s not the product, but the person. If Elon Musk were to make robot lawnmowers, those mowers would also have blown your mind.

That is why robot mowers are useless. Musk can try. But the technology still has a long way to go.
BTW, hiring the neighbors kid doesn’t work anymore. has not for years. My farm crew charges $50/week for mowing an acre. But they trim and blow too.
$20/hour is minimum wage for yard maintenance and farm workers now. Lots of small farms will go out of business. Only the big guys can afford the expensive machines needed to cut labor costs.

Yep. Tacoma. Unless you like being a grease monkey.

On my cousin’s car there was a feature to opt out.
