Tesla’s trillion dollar valuation is fast approaching

Obvious. Insider sells, outsider buy.

I sold a thousand shares at $1200 in November

Musk owns 14.9%, so he’s a vast majority of insider ownership.

Lithium is so controversial that I am not sure whether the forecast of rapid EV adoption would materialize. Battery issue has to be resolved before we can see an explosion in adoption.

Hydrogen fuel cell is the future. People are still in denial.

Not for passenger cars. Long haul semis / barges? Sure

Hydrogen fuel cars convert fuel to heat energy, like ice engines, then heat energy converted to mechanical ( rotation) then converted to electrical for drive.

So many conversion reduces efficiency.

They can not win over EV cars, neither now nor in future.

Is not the only consideration. Capacity per g  Lifespan  Convenience  Disposal

I suspect a few bloggers or their spouses or their children work in TSLA.

I do not think it affects fuel efficiency or future of EV cars in anyway.

Why Hydrogen Will Never Be The Future Of Electric Cars.

What if I tell you hydrogen fuel cell car doesn’t need to refuel for 1, 5, 10, 20 years?

Um, no.

They use a chemical reaction to produce electricity.

I believe EM is making a business decision to use battery and do away with Lidar. The priority is to get off the ground and start making money. With $$$ and brand name, can easily switch to fuel cell and Lidar when the technology is ripe. He can easily change his speech to hyping fuel cell and Lidar. Then was then, now is now. Pretty sure, nobody would fault him but would consider him a genius making wise decisions.

Okay, there you are !

This is different from current hydrogen fuel cars, which are in-efficient, running nowadays.

Yes, Fuel Cell is technologically better. There are plenty of companies started past 20-25 years and shutdown without trace. Fuel cell technology is still in LABs, not in commercially viable yet. Only NASA kind of extremely high funded research labs it is still going on.

When this is viable, that is ultimate transformation, batteries will be created by fuel cells and cars will run with fuel cell battery (they may replace lithium batteries).

If fuel cell is viable, most of the power plants will be changed to Fuel Cell Power plants, we do not even need nuclear power plants.

Technology is long way to go for commercial viability.

Fuel cell cars will always cost more to “fill up” vs a battery electric vehicle. EV density is already approaching 500 mile range cars, just a battery cost issue for offering them.

Fast charging is already at like 20 minutes, but I expect that to move down toward 10 minutes by end of the decade (any battery can actually already charge that fast, it’s just that the batteries will degrade too quickly).

So fuel cells could work for people who absolutely want a lot of range and don’t mind paying a premium for it. Like maybe the cost to make a 500 mile fuel cell car will be cheaper than a 500 mile EV. But it will cost more to operate.

Most people would prefer the benefit of mostly charging a home over a faster refill on a road trip.

For long haul semis it could make more sense. But again keep in mind cost - companies will have a tradeoff between refill time and hauling costs. Is stopping to recharge the semi for 20 min every 6 hours worth it to save $50,000 of fuel costs a year? I bet for many it is.

Even hydrogen diehard Toyota is finally realizing what a gigantic mistake it was to toy around with hydrogen and pivoting to EV.

Hydrogen only makes sense for commercial fleets that have their own fueling infrastructure. Otherwise who is stupid enough to blanket cover the country coast to coast with hydrogen fueling stations? Without those fueling stations talk of long range is just talk.

Hydrogen is a dead end. Stop beating the dead horse.

Tesla semi seems to be coming end of 2022. DOA or lot of pain in the Semi EV product?

For TSLA bulls, Already ELON is working on it.

When he has too much money, he can go to implement any project !

Elon Musk and Tesla revealed a new hydrogen fuel cell engine for electric cars. This hydrogen fuel cell engine will be the most powerful car engine in the world. Hydrogen fuel cells are an even better solution for sustainability. This new hydrogen Tesla car will be called Tesla Model H - related to hydrogen.

Should be his successor. FIFY.

Don’t think is a good solution.

@JIl

Are you in the camp of “can never” or “may be sometime in the future”?

I am referring to hydrogen fuel cell for car. Would never happen or could happen in the future.
