This is a good move, regardless of the position the company hold on politics. Every company should do that. When people’s political views aren’t as polarized as today it’s no harm for coworkers to sit together and have a discussion on the various parties and candidates and policies, but nowadays this can lead to real problems. Most people are not able to have a fact-based discussion without getting emotional at some point, and the last thing a company wants is to destroy the working relationships among employees simply because of different political views. It’s better to just not have these conversations at work because eventually something is going to come out of it and it may not be pretty.

The issue is adults being unable to discuss facts. How are they ever going to make business decisions? It’ll just be group think opinion and emotions. No wonder google can’t innovate anything new that generates meaningful revenue despite spending billions every year on R&D.

Duh. If something is free then people over consume it. If people have to pay, then they’ll pay attention to consumption and price.
