The interference was much more complicated than simply trying to help Trump. In fact Mueller stated EXPLICITLY that that was NOT what they were trying to do. It was a coordinated effort to undermine our political process rather than undermineing any particular candidate.

He did accuse. He just phrased it like a question so that he can pretend to keep his hands clean. It’s a standard trope that is followed by right wing media (aka dog whistle) where they can make their accusations/statement in the form of a question so that when called out on it, they can just say “oh i am just asking questions, i don’t know.”
btw Trump does this very often (and fairly obviously), if you look at his speeches, for his more outlandish accusations he will say “You know people are asking XYZ”. This is when even he knows that XYZ is not true but he wants to slander, so he just says “people” and won’t even say which people and why

Trump continues to hurt the country because to him it’s all about his personal feelings and his insane hate for Obama. He refused to reopen open enrollment to help laid off people get coverage despite universal support for it (including his administration and his political allies). To him, it’s all about him. He doesn’t care about the country.
The consistent lack of leadership and political gamesmanship Trump has done throughout this crisis is a disgrace. There was no reason not to open enrollment. Insurers and health officials were onboard. It would save lives

So Gov Baker (a republican) ordered his own masks and they got seized by the admin for Federal use. So basically the states get screwed in every way possible (even when they do their own thing)
BTW at the same time Trump is corrupting the Coronvirus supply chain by allowing his backers (Robert Kraft) to set up a private supply chain of medical equipment. Trump has never found a crisis he couldn’t exploit for personal gain
You make some good points. Federal Directive could work too. But the problem is a history of defiance by some governors, particularly those from the deep democratic state, who at every moment, have done their best to not comply with federal directives and laws. Case in point is the matter of cooperation between local police and ICE on matters of immigration. Or state governments creating a sanctuary to defy the federal laws, or on simple things whether the question on citizenship should be part of census question.
But, the governors are doing a good job and I see Newsom particularly appreciative of Trump for giving him support and free hand.
Trump seems to be avoiding the friction between federal and state governments by giving the states free hand.

How does your reply even make sense in the light of what the Federal government did? You said he wants to give the state a free hand, and when they did to order PPE to protect their people, he interfered and seized it. Are you being obtuse? Who can exceed the authority of the governor and the state. Only one - the Feds. And why does he not make an accusation, Trump has repeatedly said he expects to be praised if states want help (look at his fox news interview). He has a gangster mentality and believes in favors done for any requests for help. So of course Baker is not going to call him out.

It’s Ukraine all over again. Everything this guy does is quid pro quo/bribery/blackmail etc. Even his defenders admitted – this is the only way he’s knows how to operate. Before he was trading military aid for political favors from a foreign power. Now he’s trading masks and ventilators for compliments from our state governors.
