How Trump has handled the pandemic

Eh? that’s some contorted logic out there. The direction from Trump is he will do nothing and it’s every man for himself. Then he should hold himself to it. Why go out of the way to penalize the people who are following his logic. You are justifying Trump’s “heads i win, tails you lose” approach. But i guess it’s too hard to ask Trump cultists to think things through logically when it comes to their god emperor

The bigger question is now whether anyone can confiscate and ask for forgiveness later. If these things are coming in through NYC, I’d expect them to try and beat the feds to the next lot. “Oh… those masks were for Michigan… Uhm. Well, they’ve already been sent to the (NYC) hospitals and opened.”

Thankfully, you did not say:
To each according to his need. From each according to his ability.

You’re the one that said the federal government should direct where supplies go. Then they do and you get mad. Trump literally did what you wanted, and you got mad.

Now you’re promoting conspiracy theories. I can’t imagine why the media would lie.

Because it is. Trump rants about how great it is and spews made up stuff in his briefings. Also since he washed his hands of all responsibility, the briefings are a waste of time and dangerous at that (with all the wrong stuff he throws out)

Go ahead defend the blatant looting of America (especially during a crisis) by Trump and his cronies.

This is a Trump fundraiser who set up a 3 week old company funded by the coronvirus stimulus money (after Trump stripped out the oversight language via a signing statement) who is now in charge of supply PPE for the nation. What a way to use a crisis to rob the country blind. This is why Trump and his gang are blocking people from being effective after washing their hands of doing anything. But as i said, there is a set of America that will defend Trump no matter what he does

Your hatred of Trump is making you unable to appreciate and saying things like Thanks. Newsom himself is appreciative of Trumps help. Andrew Cumo not so much. Possibly because he is eyeing to replace Biden in General Election. But, a lot of state governors are happy they they are doing things as they (not CNN or left politicians ) seem fit . For example governor of Rhode Island who wants no New Yorker in state. Some governors do not want to Shut down the state like others are doing. DeSantis was forced to shut down the state, not because of coronovairus, because of people from other States (mostly democratic states like New York) who were flocking to Florida by air and road, making Floridians upset about it.

Added Later: BTW, I am surprised at softening of Newsom. Possibly he has sensed the direction in which the wind is blowing. He could truly be a good person who can appreciate good things and honest work. Or he is a master politician who does not want to create a friction with voters who generally vote Trump. He could be buying peace with voters outside California and preparing himself for Presidential elections.

Yes, that guy is a scumbag. Trump has signed an executive order against price gouging. If this guy is price gouging, then he’s in violation. I’m not sure why you’re tying him to Trump though.

“With over two decades of fundraising experience, Michael Gula is the co-founder of Gula Graham formed in January of 2009. Since 2009, Gula Graham has raised over $318,000,000 for House and Senate members of Congress, including $51,000,000 during the 2018 election cycle. Additionally, during the 2016 Presidential campaign, Gula Graham helped orchestrate the fundraising efforts for the Conservative Solutions PAC, established to support the candidacy of US Senator Marco Rubio for President which raised $44,000,000 in less than nine months.”

He raised money for Rubio.

Obviously didn’t pay attention to what Trump said during press conference. Prioritization of needs.

Will the government use the defense act to transfer critical medical personnel? That will be the most critical link in the system.

Why do companies have central procurement? The argument that everybody should fend for themselves is absurd.

I have a friend in the medical supply business. He has access to millions of 3M N95 masks. He showed me the email conversations between him and various distributors and organizations trying to funnel the masks to states.

I have seen these first hand. It is a SHIT SHOW. Distributors haggling with each org trying to find the highest bidder as people die. The whole process is taking way too long. I believe in the free market and would even say I’m pretty right wing when it comes to economic policy. But this is a national emergency that deserves a streamlined federal response instead of letting fat cats profiteer while our doctors and nurses put themselves on the line.

I am not the government

I think you should be telling @pandeyathotmail. I had worked in a large organization struggling with centralization and decentralization of procurement (and other functions) I kept my response short because sometimes it is better to centralize, sometimes it is better to decentralize and he (@pandeyathotmail) tends to talk long story  Telling him long story give him plenty of places to go OT

We are from the government are we are here to help you. :sunglasses:

I bought 25 n95 masks for $20 at HD in February.
I use them for fungicide spraying.

Now they are $4 each min. This is price gouging. Against Federal law.

eBay has plenty

Probably it is absurd and I can understand why some people see it that way. But, in the USA and many other countries that are too big to be effectively put under single agency do not believe so. In the USA, the states are considered laboratory of democratic and market best practices.

When a reply appears off topic to you, most likely the solution is in space where you did not expect it to come from. Reminds me of famous quote. “You cannot solve a problem at the same level of awareness that created it in the first place”. No suggesting to go wild, but a person must be to establish an acceptable link between different ideas considered.

In normal times, I agree with this. But not during a national emergency.

Why do we have FEMA? After all, shouldn’t states just deal with a wildfire, hurricane, or natural disaster that happens in their state? There shouldn’t be a need for federal management. According to you states should just handle this themselves. I mean this is the epitome of a LOCAL accident.

Yet we have FEMA so that we can quickly get resources and support to areas in an emergency because only the federal government can do so. I’m not sure why you think this situation is different.

Define effective.

In an emergency, effective means speed. There are lives on the line, after all.
In normal times, effectiveness means competition, economics, etc.

It’s really not hard to understand.
